Fake Pakistan claim exposed as Indian Air Force Rafale BS022 appears at Republic Day Parade 2026 flypast in New Delhi

A false claim circulated by Pakistani social media handles and certain online propaganda accounts alleging that the Pakistan Air Force shot down an Indian Rafale fighter jet bearing tail number BS022 during a so-called “Operation Sindoor” has been decisively debunked.

The claim has fallen apart after the same Rafale jet (BS022) was publicly seen participating in India’s 26 January 2026 Republic Day Parade, held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi.

The Viral Falsehood

Soon after India’s recent counter-terror operations, several Pakistan-based handles claimed that an Indian Rafale jet was destroyed in combat. Images and edited visuals were circulated online, asserting that Rafale BS022 had been “downed”.

However, no official confirmation, wreckage, satellite imagery, or credible evidence was ever produced to support this assertion.

Reality Check: Rafale BS022 at Republic Day Parade

During the Republic Day flypast on 26 January 2026, multiple high-resolution visuals and live broadcasts clearly showed Indian Air Force Rafale fighter jets, including aircraft bearing the tail number BS022, participating in the ceremonial aerial display.

Republic Day flypasts involve only fully operational, mission-ready aircraft, making the Pakistani claim not just misleading but impossible.

India’s Rafale Fleet: Fully Operational

The Indian Air Force maintains strict transparency regarding aircraft losses. Any combat loss, if it occurs, is officially acknowledged—something that has not happened in this case.

Defense experts point out that disinformation campaigns are often intensified during periods of military tension to:

  • Boost domestic morale
  • Distract from internal crises
  • Create false narratives for international audiences

Another Case of Digital Propaganda

This episode highlights a recurring pattern where unverified claims are amplified on social media without proof, only to collapse when confronted with publicly available facts.

India’s Republic Day Parade, watched by millions across the world, unintentionally became the strongest rebuttal to the fake narrative.

Conclusion

The claim that Pakistan shot down Rafale BS022 during Operation Sindoor is false and baseless. The aircraft’s presence at India’s Republic Day Parade 2026 stands as visible proof that the narrative was nothing more than manufactured propaganda.

As always, readers are urged to rely on verified sources and avoid falling for unsubstantiated claims circulated during geopolitical flashpoints.
